Answers to a few of our commonly asked questions about insurance.
Because we are a medical facility offering both ophthalmology and optometry services, we perform comprehensive eye exams that are considered medical and therefore not covered by vision insurance. However, we do accept most health insurances and offer a self-pay discounted rate.
This is dependent upon your plan benefits. Not all insurance policies carry vision benefits, even if you are being treated for a medical condition. It is always a good idea to check with your insurance company to see if you have vision benefits and what those entail.
In most cases, yes, the patient will be responsible for payment of the visit. If your insurance company deems any part of your visit your responsibility, it is Colorado Eye Insitute’s contractual obligation to collect this payment from you. It is also part of your contract with your insurance company to pay the required amount.
If your insurance company requires you to pay a copay, then it is our contractual obligation to collect this copay at the time of service, not after. If you are unable to pay your copay at your time of service, we will be happy to reschedule your appointment with no penalty to you.
