CORNEA TRANSPLANTS WITH RAPID VISUAL RECOVERY:
Over the past 10 years, Dr. James Lee has performed hundreds of rapid visual recovery corneal transplants to correct cloudy, swollen cornea from loss of the critical inner layer cells of the cornea.
Dr. Lee is now performing newer technique called Ultra thin DSAEK (Descemet’s stripping Automated Endothelial Keratoplasty) because the corneal heals even faster and the visual recovery is even more rapid. He is one of the few surgeons in the country performing this enhanced technique.
Ultra thin DSAEK is the preferred method of treatment for Fuch’s Dystrophy, and corneal swelling. Patients now routinely see 20/40 or better within 3 months of surgery and some 20/20.
Advantages of DSAEK as compared to traditional corneal transplant are:
• Visual recovery is dramatically faster
• Overall vision is dramatically improved
• The eye is left much stronger and more resistant to injury
• There is less potential for graft rejection
DSAEK surgery for most of our patients is performed at the Peak Surgery Center, located at our 9320 Grand Cordera Parkway building in Colorado Springs. This specially designed surgical center is dedicated exclusively to eye surgery and is equipped with the most advanced eye surgery instrumentation and equipment available.
